Slow, Steady and a change of perspective
This year has been absolutely wild yet so healing...
Ive had some time to reflect a bit these past few days, and its made me want to start sharing a bit more about life and this creative journey that I am so grateful to be on (It's been a long time coming). Maybe it's to connect, to start "real writing" again and to be more grounded. No AI ... just me! Kak punctuation, spelling and some questionable use of language!
A trip to Kāpiti Coast seems to always bring a sense of calmness in me. I have sat with the ocean there through so much. The stillness in that current has felt my heart beat in all seasons. Kāpiti Island has heard my thoughts endlessly and I have walked that beach with the sun rising and setting more times than I can count.
Although I feel so deeply connected with Kāpiti - living in Taupō has brought a whole new level of "being home" for me. I find healing where ever I go now, in different stages, seasons and times. And maybe thats why I feel so settled in New Zealand. I feel "grounded" for the first time in my life. Not fleeing from anything in fear of the unknown... flight or fight may still be stuck in my nervous system but it doesn't feel as overpowering as it use to be.
Which brings me to the meaning behind my YELLOW YEAR. The lessons so far have been easier to overcome and understand, Ive found joy and positivity out of each experience and continue to grow and blossom into living my dreams and best life. Appreciative and grateful to have every moment to live and be present for my boys and for me.
I have always hoped that my journey could someday help someone else... to be able to take photographs that tell your story but to remember the moment whilst it was.
Surely thats how life should be. To be present in the now. Have a deeper understanding and let go of the past and to feel connected to the future. Perhaps we should bring back that meaning of "taking a photo"... a placeholder on the feeling of a moment that once was. Time captured in its purest - realest form.
When " I get to" has a new meaning. And being Perfectly Imperfect is OK!
This is the life of a Taupo Photographer who's eyes has seen enough to notice.
